The Faculty of Architecture / Architectural Conservation and Restoration
3rd Year, sem 1, 2023-2024 | Compulsory Course | Hours/Week: 1C+1L | ECTS Credits: 2
Department:
Technical Sciences
Course Leader:
Ana Maria Biro
Teaching Staff:
dr.arh.ing. Ana Maria BIRO, lector. dr. ing. Alexandru IATAN
Learning outcomes:
Acquiring related knowledge to building equipment and utilities to meet internal comfort and occupants security conditions requirements in the heritage buildings area.
The ability to understand the conditioning relations between the building equipment and the utilitarian supply networks and also the constraints of other building elements in the conservation and restoration of the heritage buildings area.
Rehabilitation of technical spaces or other spaces transformation to accommodate the necessary building equipment.
Applying, within the limits of conservation or restoration of heritage buildings, the buildings equipment quality, energy and environmental requirements.
Content:
Comfort. Definition. Comfort areas: thermal, sanitary, visual, environmental.
Heating systems. Heating sources-local source, central heaters, co-generation. Heating pathways and distribution pipelines. Equipment's- for sources (heaters, heat exchangers, boilers, heat pumps, solar collectors, geothermal), pipe distribution, terminals (radiators, fancoils, convectors), air distribution (air channels and grills). Heritage building constraints
Air conditioning systems. Equipment's- fans, heat/chill batteries, filters, treatment, noise, heating recovery exchangers. Elements of the air pollutants and filtering methods. Sick building syndrome.
Air channels. Inlet/outlet elements; air flow controllers of the certain restricted areas.
Chiller sources: passive and active procedures, chillers-structure, mounting restrictions. Flow pipes for the cold water respecting distribution restrictions. Heritage building constraints
Sanitary equipment's: water sources, treatments, distribution pipes, consumers. Interior distribution for cold/ domestic hot water. Sanitary equipment's and services, bathroom and kitchen, restrictions. waste and rain sewage. Fire-fighting problems and fire extinguish systems .
Electrical equipment's. Mains sources, security sources, Raceways. End-points. Lighting systems, interior and outside design lighting, emergency lighting, little currents equipment's, building monitoring systems.
Teaching Method:
Presentations using .ppt sources; laboratory and reference objectives visits; student-teacher dialogues
Assessment:
30% on course evaluation
70% on final exam
