Learning outcomes:
General objective:
Awareness of responsibility in design by focusing on the needs of all categories of users and the integration as added value in architecture of inclusive principles and solutions.

Specific objectives:

- Understanding barriers to mobility and inclusion for users with various permanent, temporary or contextual (dis)abilities.
- Consolidation of a sustainable design approach to the built environment, with an emphasis on the social pillar of sustainability.
- Creating solid connections between legislative, statistical, research references, solutions provided by companies, best practice architectural examples and feedback provided by different categories of users.
Content:
- Introductory information on the responsibility for design decisions and the impact on the environment and users.
- Operating concepts: accessibility – free barrier design – inclusive design – design for all – universal design.
- Principles, solutions, barriers regarding the design of spaces and equipment for various visual, auditory, motor and / or cognitive disabilities.
- Conforming architectural elements: ramps, stairs, railings, elevators, platforms, toilets, doors, corridors, orientation and signage.
- Examples of good practices regarding different destinations: mobility, education, health, culture, tourism, etc.
Teaching Method:
Interactive courses (illustrated lectures, conversations, debates, exercises), which benefit from the participation of guests with various (dis)abilities.
Assessment:
Continuous assessment (questionnaires, discussions, debates, individual and team presentations) – 30%
Final summative assessment (in-session exam) – 70%
