Department:
Study of Form and Ambience
Course Leader:
arh. George Teodor Călin
Teaching Staff:

Teaching language:
Romanian
Learning outcomes:
The course aims to introduce students to the skills required for presenting architectural projects in digital 2D format, in accordance with current conventions and representation standards, while also developing personalized architectural expression abilities through presentation images derived from simple geometric models.

It focuses on specific applications for managing architectural projects in a digitalized workflow, guiding students through all types of deliverables that compose a 2D architectural project (title block, plan, elevation/section, urban plan, etc.), helping them support their architectural discourse through simplified presentation images.

Students will be trained in using graphic conventions, scales, and dimensioning systems, as well as in applying methods for organizing and structuring technical information in digital format. Throughout the practical activities, the course contributes to the development of operational competencies required for integrating graphical documentation within the architectural design process.

It seeks to consolidate both technical knowledge and practical skills for transforming sketches and drawings into clear, precise digital sheets, in accordance with the role of the technical drafter in supporting the design team. In this sense, students will learn to create presentation sheets that are visually appealing and clearly structured, emphasizing the essential aspects of the architectural project and supporting professional communication.

Furthermore, the course fosters critical thinking regarding the process of computer-aided design, integrating visual technologies into architectural communication and the presentation of personal projects.
Content:
1. Introduction to the software: Recommended settings, installation troubleshooting, and interface overview.

2. 2D Design Exercise – Cabinet / Title Block: Use of representation scales, coordinate-based drafting, rapid element construction, resource libraries, visual representation styles (surfaces, hatches, patterns, fills, etc.), text annotations, and scale management.

3. Photographic/Cadastral-based Vectorization: Importing various file formats (DWG, JPG, PDF), scaling, coordinate placement in Stereo 70, and rapid vectorization tools.

4. Site Plan & Urban Analysis – Urbanism Exercise: Creation of areas and symbols, legend design, insertion of north arrow and graphic scale, GIS data import.

5. 2D Execution Detail – Single-family house, Ground Floor layout: Generation of sections by construction; roof structure (truss) detailing.

6. Interior Architecture Detail: Interior layout of the single-family house; dimensioning and room finishes; 2D/3D furniture from built-in libraries or external imports.

7. Preparing Working Sheets in Allplan: Workflow, corrections, collage techniques, and creation of detail drawings at various representation scales.

8. 3D Modeling: Creation of basic geometric forms and modeling through intersection, union, and subtraction of 3D bodies; surface unfolding, shadow calculation on 3D objects; generation-based organic modeling; design of urban furniture elements.
