The aim of the project is to get the students of the 4th grade, familiar with the elaboration of a planning project at the level of a basic territorial administrative unit and also with the content of an Urban General Plan (as a planning documentation). The students can experiment methods and techniques adequate to the scale of this territorial level, concerning the analysis, diagnosis and the elaboration of various parts of a General Urban Plan, contributing to reaching other objectives too, such us: developing the capacity for documentation / investigation and use of various sources, developing the capacity of processing and interpreting the information and the skills to represent concepts, planning ideas and research by direct observation and contact with the territory, developing the capacity to work in teams and the abilities to present and sustain a proposal. The project represents an application of the theoretical knowledge already get during previous study years in the fields of sociology, economy, engineering, statistics, ecology and provides them the opportunity to understand the functionality of settlements within an administrative unit, their relationship with the territory and their specific problems by direct research and observation and by processing data and statistical information. The project aims to develop specific competencies for the bachelor cycle, such as: use of techniques and methods for urban planning and design and elaboration of planning documents of limited complexity, describing and analysing the functional and spatial organisation of human settlements and territory, s and integrated approach to the socio-economic, ecological and cultural dimensions of human settlements and territory. The project is also contributing to the development of horizontal competencies concerning team work and communication and coordination of sectoral or general activities. Its specific result is the elaboration of a spatial development scenario for an administrative unit of a limited size (town or commune up to 15,000 inhab.) based on some ToRs.

The project is elaborated by teams of 4-5 students. Evaluation of the project is done by considering both the individual and team activities. The activity during the studio hours is evaluated on the basis of weekly fiches and of a final report of activity.
