Learning outcomes:
Familiarizing students with the concepts and basic notions of strategic planning.

Knowledge of how strategic planning processes are implemented at territorial level, in Romania and in other countries of the European Union.

Learning techniques and methods of analysis, programming, evaluation and team work, in the field of territorial strategic planning.

Understanding and applying an integrated strategic planning approach in a given territory, from analyzing the existing situation to proposing an action plan.

1. Urban management and strategic planning.
2. Strategic planning and operational planning.
3. Spatial planning systems. Strategic territorial planning in Europe.
4. Strategic territorial planning in Romania - the regional level.
5. Strategic territorial planning in Romania - the county level.
6. Strategic territorial planning in Romania - the metropolitan level.
7. Institutional framework and territorial governance.

Practical themes and exercises:
1. SWOT analysis.
2. Identifying problems. Diagnosis.
3. Visioning. Defining the strategic objectives.
4. Developing the strategy and action plan.
5. Logical Matrix Framework (LMF).
6. Final presentation - practical themes and exercises.
7. Feedback session.
Teaching Method:
Lectures, interactive presentations, debates, individual and group exercises.
Assessment:
60 % Practical work during the semester (40 % final delivery and presentation, 20 % activity during the semester)
40 % Final exam
