The Master’s Programme in Landscape and Territory is a two-year graduate program (120 ECTS credits) dedicated to training specialists capable of understanding, planning, and managing landscapes and territories through an integrated, interdisciplinary, and sustainability-oriented approach. The program offers a balanced combination of theoretical foundations and practical training, preparing graduates to address contemporary challenges arising from climate change, territorial transformations, the conservation of natural and cultural heritage, and the sustainable development of communities.
The curriculum focuses on developing the competencies required to prepare landscape planning and spatial planning documentation, as well as territorial development strategies and projects based on the sustainable use and enhancement of a place’s natural, cultural, and identity-related resources. Students acquire knowledge of landscape analysis and assessment, strategic planning, landscape ecology, green infrastructure, heritage conservation, rural and urban development, project representation and communication tools, and applied research methods.
The program is aimed at graduates from fields related to architecture, urban planning, landscape architecture, geography, ecology, engineering, environmental sciences, and other relevant disciplines, promoting collaboration among professionals with diverse educational backgrounds. This transdisciplinary approach reflects the complexity of interventions at the territorial scale and responds to the current need for teams capable of integrating diverse perspectives into the design and planning process.
Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on applied projects, workshops, research, and collaboration with public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and international partners. Students are encouraged to participate in European projects, workshops, and field studies, developing their ability to work in real-world contexts and to propose innovative solutions for the management of landscapes and territories undergoing transformation.
Graduates of the program can pursue careers in design and consultancy firms, research institutes, central and local public administration, development agencies, non-governmental organizations, or within national and European projects focused on territorial development, environmental protection, and heritage conservation and enhancement. The competencies acquired enable graduates to contribute to the development of territorial development strategies, landscape plans and studies, urban and rural regeneration projects, as well as territorial planning and management processes.
Through its interdisciplinary approach, the program addresses current challenges related to the management and transformation of landscapes at the territorial scale, preparing specialists capable of working with the relationships between natural, anthropogenic, and cultural landscapes. Graduates are trained to develop strategies and projects that contribute to protecting the identity and values of territories, adapting to climate change, regenerating landscapes, and promoting a sustainable, balanced, and resilient model of development.
