Learning outcomes:
Navigate through the main styles of history of furniture, identifying patterns that characterize each period
Content:
Introduction. Definition. Functions. The furniture as an extension of the human body / function of representation. Ornament. Origins.
Dictionary of terms. The Classical Greek and Romanian orders in architecture
The furniture of ancient Egypt / ancient Greece / ancient Rome
Middle Ages furniture The furniture suited for transport/ migration, furniture evolved in monasteries, Renaissance
Appearance of interior architecture as it is understood today
Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI furniture types, ornamental characteristic
Empire, Biedermeier, Thonet / innovations, appearance of the industrial production, designed by engineers in the U.S. types of furniture, examples of furniture designers, ornamental characteristic
