UAUIM Bucharest - "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism is the oldest and most important academic institution in this field in Romania. Its foundation is closely linked with the raise of modern Romania, and the setting of its new institutional structure and culture. The educational programme was very pragmatic and adapted to the local imperative of the moment, though the Ecole des Beaux-Arts' model was obvious. Currently, the “Ion Mincu” University is the main academic institution dedicated to educating specialized professionals in architecture and urban planning. Bearing this responsibility, the research and activity domain is very complex comprising the artistic area as well as the technical, scientifical and economic one.

University of Bucharest, Faculty of Geology and Geophysics was founded on the base of three different faculties with geological and geophysical profil, that were organized following the Education Reform from 1948. The present profile of the University lasts from 1990. The faculty has among its Professors, Members of the Romanian Academy. Its intense research activity has in process numerous research contracts such as: M.E.C., CNCSIS, CNFIS, World Bank, specialized braches like PETROM, GEOECOMAR, GEOTEC, Geodynamic Academy Institute and many more that involve teachers and also students.

INCERC Bucharest - National Institute for Building Research is a symbol of research for buildings and structures in Romania. In 2005, the institute has celebrated its 55th anniversary. Since its establishment, the institute developed continuously, being well-known in Romania and abroad for: the largest in Romania seismic database and network for strong ground motions: 1977, 1986 and 1990 events; technical agréments for construction products; in situ and laboratory tests and measurements for buildings and structures; national codes and regulations for building design; consultancy and services for construction industry.
INCERC is a member of the following European and international organisations: ENBRI, EOTA, UEAtc, WFTAO.

University of Petrosani - with almost 6000 sudents and 200 teachers, the university is medium at the country level. With 56 years of age, it continues the tradition of the Mine Institute, the base of academic education in the domain of Coal Mining in Romania. Today it functions with three faculties and twenty-five specialization courses. The university has several research contracts such as: CNCSIS grants, PC6, PC7 programmes from the National Reaserch Programme, international contracts, private financed research, as the value of its scientifical research is well appreciated and recognized at the European level.

IPCT Bucharest - Building Design, Research and Software Institute with over 40 years of experience in civil engineering design and research. Its domain of activity and research comprises civil project design, industrial, railway, roads, bridges, communiation ways project design, studies and complex simulations for socio-cultural and industrial objectives.

Geomedia Centre, University of Bucharest belongs to the University of Bucharest, as one of its main research centres in the domain of the geology and its specific techniques. Under an active and young committee for studies and research, the key experiences are geoconservation; nature conservation education; project management; geological and geophysical engineering; paleontology.
