Learning outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:

understand the role of research in architecture, with a focus on interior architecture, furniture and related fields;

identify and select relevant research and professional development activities (workshops, conferences, competitions, projects, exhibitions);

critically analyse information, concepts and practices in architecture and design, using diverse sources;

document and present research-related activities in a coherent and structured portfolio;

communicate clearly and convincingly their research approach in academic or professional contexts;

develop autonomy in learning and active engagement in professional and interdisciplinary environments.
Content:
The role of research in architecture, interior architecture and furniture design.

Forms and contexts of applied research: workshops, summer schools, competitions, research projects, exhibitions and conferences.

Methods of documentation and critical analysis of information in architecture and design.

Selection and validation of relevant sources (theoretical texts, visual references, case studies, contemporary practices).

Structuring and writing a research activity report / portfolio.

Presentation and argumentation of the research process in academic and professional contexts.

Correlation between research activities, design practice and continuous professional development.
Teaching Method:
The teaching activity is conducted through guidance and monitoring of students’ individual research activities. The teaching method is based on introductory presentations, guided discussions, analysis of relevant examples, individual counselling and applied feedback on the activities carried out. Active participation, self-directed learning, independent research and involvement in real professional contexts are encouraged.
Assessment:
Assessment is summative and consists of the presentation, during the examination session, of an activity report in the form of a dossier / portfolio (A4 format), documenting the research activities carried out during the semester. The assessment is conducted through an interview, based on the quality and relevance of the presented activities, the coherence of the research approach, and the ability to provide critical reflection and argumentation.

Indicative bibliography, established according to the research topic chosen by the student.

Theoretical works, critical studies and specialized publications in architecture, interior architecture and design.

Specialized journals and platforms (print and online), academic databases, exhibition catalogues, project documentation.

Visual sources and relevant case studies related to the researched field.
Notes:
The course is conducted in accordance with the regulations regarding the allocation of credits for research activities in architecture, approved at the level of the Faculty of Interior Architecture.
