SFA-127 | Parametric Modeling

Learning outcomes:
Parametric modeling is a contemporary concept that enables the creation of flexible models that can easily generate a series of iterations towards the refinement of a particular design. The course is aimed at 3rd year students that are already familiar with classic modeling techniques (AutoCAD or Rhinoceros) and are willing to move on to the next level. They will learn the principles of parametric modeling through the Fusion 360 software.
Content:
1. Introduction, interface, project management. Launch of assignment.
2. Settings / Tools / Sketching and Restrictions. Example;
3. General features (Extrude, Revolve, Hole, Shell, Rib, Loft, Sweep, Coil, Thread);
4. Geometric work elements (Workplane - Workaxis - Workpoint). 2Dand 3D sketches;
5. Parametric family of parts (parameters, modelsand families);
6. Mechanical assembly systems (creating an assembly, editing component parts, animating mobile parts, collision, exploded views, adaptive modeling);
7. Sculpt interface (an example showcasing the necessity of modeling, surface creation and advanced tools);
8. Metal sheet processing (activating the dedicated sheet work module, style editor, specific toolkit and unwrap);
9. Technical execution drawings (templates and cartouche, placement of projections, axis lines, dimensions and annotation);
10. Project work. Creating the strategy for each chosen theme;
11. Project work.Sketching and modeling. Assessment;
12. Project work. Parameter and component definition. Assessment;
13. Project work.Final prototype, presentation board and animation. Assessment;
14. Final assessment with interactive presentation on digital projection.

Hands on computer work with guidance and theoretical explanations using digital projection.
