In 2015, at the initiative of Prof. dr. arch. Tiberiu Constantin Florescu, Dean of the Faculty of Urban planning of UAUIM, a new doctoral school was established, dedicated to the field of urbanism
Its establishment was motivated by the specifics of urban research, starting from the need for a more rigorous control of doctoral research activity in order to increase its international visibility through publications and presentations, to the existence of a critical mass of doctoral supervisors and students in this domain. The approval was made by Senate Decision no. 5 of 27.05.2015
