Workshop “AI in Architecture”

The 2nd Workshop “AI in Architecture”, organized by the Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, in partnership with UAUIM, with the participation of 3 schools of architecture from Mexico (Universidad de Guadalajara, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana de Azcapotzalco and Facultad de Estudios Superiores Acatlán) in May 2025, was completed with the realization of no less than 13 projects having as their theme the organization of pavilion constructions for exhibition and housing for the Botanical Garden of Barcelona. The approximately 20 participating Romanian students, representing all the faculties within UAUIM, had the space of the "Mac Popescu" Experimental Architecture Workshop at the UAUIM headquarters available for the online activity.

The projects were created with the help of several AI graphics programs applied to architecture (LookX, Leonardo, Midjourney, Runaway, Gamma, Dream AI, etc.) but with very original visions, offering from the vision of light, parametric structures, made of metal or wood, with glass covering (teams 3,8,10), to landscape architectural interventions that merge with nature through the relationship with the land and the materials used (teams 4,5,6,9,13), to pavilion interventions based on the repetitive module of the home (teams 2, 8, 11), to bionic-inspired structures - honeycombs (team 7) or constructions that frankly re-edit the architecture of greenhouses (teams 1, 12).

This event is part of a larger program, launched at the beginning of 2024, designed as a cooperation between the Department of Architectural Representation at ETSAB and the Department of Form and Environment Studies at UAUIM, within which the First Workshop on AI Applied in Architecture (February-March 2024) and three more workshops on videomapping and parametric architecture at the Greco-Roman archaeological site of Empuries, Costa Brava (April 2024, September 2024, September 2025) have already been organized.

The team of students who participated in the last Videomapping and Heritage Workshop (Empuries, September 2025), also had the opportunity to visit ETSA Barcelona, where they also visited the exhibition dedicated to the projects of the Second “AI in Architecture” Workshop, which we also present here.
