Developing the ability to relate the physical problems and the execution technologies to the multiple functions of the building itself, in order to create comfortable interior spaces and to protect the construction elements against environmental aggressive factors.
Buildings' quality evaluation: exigencies and user needs/requirements; evaluation criteria, performance levels/parameters with respect to building’s components.
Fundamentals of building physics – the behavior of building components in the presence of water, humidity, heat, solar radiation; sun shading devices; acoustics.
Energy efficiency and building design in detail; thermal insulation; water-proofing.
Finishing of the building envelope – interior/exterior walls. Continuous coatings, renders, paints. Wall cladding.
Fair-faced masonry walls, exposed concrete – composition, finishing, protection.
Ceiling finishing; contemporary solutions for traditional systems.
Windows and doors; basic theoretical elements; design quality standards in traditional and contemporary joinery.
Thermal, water, energetic and acoustic efficient joinery - best practices for Romania.
Online lectures, accompanied by explanatory video projections.
The final mark will consist of: 50% activity during the semester and 50% written paper work during final examination period.
