ST-83 Technological Products and Subassemblies in Contemporary Architecture

The Faculty of Architecture / Architecture
4th Year, sem 1, 2022-2023 | Optional Course | Hours/Week: 2C | ECTS Credits: 2
Department:
Technical Sciences
Course Leader:
prof.dr.arh. Ana Maria Dabija
Teaching language:
Romanian
Learning outcomes:
Today in Romania the use of technologies in order to achieve buildings should take into account the current state of knowledge in this area internationally, as well as the specific conditions concerning the overall concept, level of knowledge, technology, performance, durability and reliability of the finished product. Technological building components are available for a wide range of specific areas of application, from structural to the items/products for finishing and are passing through a vast range of products and technologies in the field of installations. The course aims to develop the technological sub-assemblies from the approach principles and constituent products, to their integration into concrete solutions.
Content:
Introduction. Contemporary design philosophies: sustainable, bioclimatic, de-growth Performant products for constructions and their use in specific technological sub-assemblies Organic materials for constructions and their use in specific technological sub-assemblies Smart materials and their integration into constructive technological sub-assemblies Passive buildings. History. Classification. Principles of implementation Active buildings. History. Classification. Principles of implementation Technological sub-assemblies: Green Facades: History. Classification. Principles of implementation. Examples Technological sub-assemblies: Green Roofs: History. Classification. Principles of implementation. Examples Use of solar energy. Thermosolar. Photovoltaic. Principles and areas of use. Examples The integration of solar systems in buildings. Technological sub-assemblies: Curtain Walls. History. Classification. Principles of implementation Technological sub-assemblies: Curtain Walls. Specific systems (”stick”, „unit”, „shadowbox”, ”double skin” etc). Case studies: domestic buildings Case studies: administrative buildings, office buildings
Teaching Method:
Theoretical courses, backed by private invited specialists in specific areas of design and construction, illustrated with images; discussion on case studies. Course support in electronic format. Illustrative Material. Thematic literature. Bibliographical selection.
Assessment:
The evaluation will be done permanently, during the course, by answering the questions at the end of the course. Minimum promotion grade is 5 (five)
