The Faculty of Architecture / Architecture
4th Year, sem 1, 2023-2024 | Optional Course | Hours/Week: 2C | ECTS Credits: 2
Fișa disciplinei:
SFA-115 Discurs digital de arhitectura.pdf
Department:
Study of Form and Ambience
Course Leader:
asist.dr.arh. Mihai Chisărău
Teaching language:
Romanian
Learning outcomes:
Advanced knowledge of the use of digital means of design and presentation of interior architecture and product design projects. The course is a synthesis and a clarification of the possible workflow around the presentation of design and interior architecture projects from hand-drawn sketches through to postproduction, final mockup and print.
The acquired notions will be exercised, exemplified and graded through the participation of teams of attending students at national and international design / interior architecture competitions, chosen by each team.
The final objective is to develop an individual workflow of presenting ones’ project in an efficient and impactful manner.
Content:
The optional course will be held primarily on-line on zoom via this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/8769390093 (Passcode: 580736), and in the Mac Popescu Experimental Lab (1st floor, old section) for a series of four sessions devoted to the improvement of the digital construction methods used in conceiving architectural competition deliverables.
1.Presentation of the course. Introduction in mixing analog and digital rendering techniques through the digitalization of hand-drawn sketches.A presentation of a few current design / interior architecture competitions. Team forming for the competitions.
2.Basic volume – the human scale and the concept volume. Presentation of BIM and classical design software. Each team chooses their competition;
3.Concept drawing – 2D and 3D concept mockup;
4.Concept rendering – presentation and visualization methods of an interior architecture or design concept through CAD software. Example and practical exercise.
5.Modeling and extraction of required technical drawings from a 3D model. Post-processing of technical drawings;
6. Lighting in 3D software. Practical exercise on competition or design studio models;
7. Simulated materials. Practical exercise on competition or design studio models;
8. Generated volume. Advanced texturing and texture creation;
9.Integrating a render into a real scenario. Photogrammetry;
10, 11, 12, 13. Assessment and presentation of projects with interactive feedback;
14.Final interactive assessment of the projects.
Teaching Method:
Hands-on work inside the IT laboratory in the Mac Popescu Experimental Lab. Oral discourse. Debate
Assessment:
The grading will consist of: 60% teacher grading, 10% participating students grading, 30% team evaluation (each participant will write an essay describing their individual work in the creation of the concept and of the contest deliverables, as well as a personal note on the way the team as a whole functioned) – with two possible bonus rewards of 0.25p each at the end.
