Learning outcomes:
Understanding the basics of environmental conditions and the components of plant systematic, botany and physiology of plants.
Content:
Plant systematic – the biological classification of plants.
Plant cytology and histology . Observation of cellular structures. Observation of plant tissues.
Root, stem, leaf - the composition and functioning, examples and direct observation.
Flower, seed, fruit - morphology and anatomy, examples and direct observation.
Plant physiology - respiration, transpiration photosynthesis, transport of substances inside the plant. Mechanisms of interaction of these functions in plants.
Plant nutrition, regulation of plant’s growth and development .
Meteorology - introduction to the field.
Temperature, atmospheric pressure, air humidity and cloudiness, wind direction and speed.
Precipitation, climatology - the classification of climates.
Soil science - introduction to the field. The mineral and organic components of the soil.
Teaching Method:
Illustrated and commented lecture.
Assessment:
Attendance to the lecture 20%, essays and presentations 60%, final examination 20%.
