Compulsory Course | Hours/Week: 2P | ECTS Credits: 2
Chair: Technical Sciences
- Titular:
- prof.dr.ing. Mircea Crişan
- Teaching Staff:
- conf.dr.ing. Adrian Iordăchescu, conf.dr.ing. Mihaela Georgescu, lect.drd.ing. Dragoş Marcu, lect.drd.ing. Vlad Petrescu, asist.drd. Basarab Cheşcă, asist.drd.ing. Andra Covaleov, ing. - Learning outcomes:
- Understanding the relation between architectural concept and the load bearing structure that gives strength and stability to the designed building.
Developing the skills needed for applying theory in practical design.
Learning about considering the structural engineering knowledge in designing the architecture of the building.
Learning about preliminary design of load bearing members
Learning about interacting with other specialists (structural engineers) involved in designing of architectural constructions.
Learning about the needed documents for Construction Permit Approval.
Learning about using the proper terms and drawing requirements for structural design as a common language for both architects and engineers. - Content:
- The student is asked to design a masonry or concrete load bearing structure using as a starting point the architectural plans of a small and simple building that has been previously studied.
The project includes the preliminary design of the structural elements (walls, frames, slabs and foundation) using simple methods and the technical drawings (general plans and details). - Teaching Method:
- Thematical speeches, drawing board and team discussions.
- Assessment:
- On going evaluation -40%
The evaluation of the project final version - 60%
The marks for each of the two components should be at least five in order to pass the exam. - Bibliography:
- Concrete and Masonry Structures (1)+(2) - Course Handouts and bibliography
