- - To teach the major characteristics of the 19th century architecture (architectural trends and programs, theory, outstanding figures) within the European cultural context;
- To include Romanian architecture in the ampler framework of the European architecture by showing the influences and interferences with European architecture. - Content:
- 1. Architecture in Romanian in late 18th century: Transylvanian baroque;
2. Architecture in Romanian in late 18th century: Wallachia and Moldova;
3. European history in the 19th century;
4. Cultural renewal;
5. Town, society, and architectural typologies;
6. Architecture and industry;
7. French neo-classicism: Boullee, Ledoux, Durand;
8. Romanticism and the assertion of national identities;
9. Late 19th century eclecticism;
10. Viollet le Duc theoretical premises of modernity;
11. The 1900 architectures;
12. Architectural culture in the Balkans;
13. Architectural culture in Central Europe;
14. Romania and European architecture of the 19th century - Teaching Method:
